Share a note by link or publish it to the feed

A note can leave your notebook two ways, and they don’t depend on each other. A link is live: whoever opens it reads the note as it is now. Publishing puts a snapshot in your district’s Feed, where teammates can read it and keep a copy.

A note can have a link, a feed post, both or neither. A locked note can have neither, so its Share button isn’t there.

To share one note:

  1. Open the note.
  2. Press Share in the note’s header.
  3. Press Create link.
  4. Paste the link wherever it’s going.

Create link copies the link as it makes it, and the toast says Link created and copied. A new link starts on Anyone with the link and Can view.

On a phone, the share button sits in the note’s top bar. Once a link exists, a second button beside the copy button opens your phone’s own share sheet.

The header button reads Shared while a link or a feed post exists. Hover it on a desktop to see which.

The two menus under the link set the rules, and the line under them says what the choice means.

  • Anyone with the link opens without an account.
  • Friends only needs a signed-in friend: someone you follow, or who follows you.
  • My district only needs a signed-in member of your district.

The second menu is Can view or Can edit. With Anyone with the link and Can edit, anybody holding the link can change your note, no account needed.

Narrowing the audience locks out people who already have the link, and the toast Link narrowed says who loses access.

Press Stop sharing in the same window. The toast says Link turned off, and anybody who opens the old link is told the note isn’t available.

Creating a link again later gives the note a fresh link. The old one stays dead.

The link opens a plain page with the note, a line naming you, the date it was last changed and a reading time. A badge says View only, or Anyone with access can edit when editing is on.

An editor’s changes save as they type, and the badge shows Saving…, then Saved. The page checks for other people’s changes every 15 seconds.

If two people edit at once, nothing is overwritten. The reader with unsaved work gets a banner offering See their version or Keep mine.

A signed-in reader who isn’t you gets Save a copy to my notes. The copy is theirs to edit, and it won’t change when your note does. A signed-out reader is offered Sign in instead.

  1. Press Share in the note’s header.
  2. Press Publish under Publish to feed.

The toast says Published to your district feed. Teammates see a card in Feed saying you shared a note, with Read note and Save to my notes.

What they read is the note as it was when you published. Edit it afterwards and press Republish latest version to update the post.

Unpublish takes the post down. Open the info mark beside Publish to feed for the other things that do the same.

Is a shared note still private in my own notebook?

Yes. Sharing adds a way in for the people you chose. It doesn’t move the note or show it anywhere else.

Can I publish without being in a district?

No. The feed belongs to a district, and the app says Join a district to publish to its feed.

Does editing my note change what people saved?

No. A saved copy is a snapshot. Your link shows the live note, and the feed post shows whatever you last published.

Someone says the link won’t open. Why?

Either the link was turned off, or it’s limited to friends or your district and they aren’t one. Signed-out readers are told that signing in might help.
