Find tasks: Today, Upcoming, Search and filters
The views at the top of the Tasks rail answer the questions you ask most: what’s due today, what’s coming, where’s that task, and what did I get done. Each one has its own address, so a link or a reload opens the same view.
Today shows how many tasks are left, such as 5 tasks left for today, with
overdue tasks on top. Reschedule on the Overdue heading moves every overdue
task to the day you pick, and each one keeps its time.
When nothing is left it says All done for today.
Upcoming
Section titled “Upcoming”Upcoming is a week strip with a dot on every day that holds a task, then the
next 14 days one heading each, then Later. Tap a day on the strip to jump to it.
Each day has its own add row, so a task typed there lands on that day.
Search
Section titled “Search”Search opens with Recently viewed: the tasks and projects you opened last on
this device. Type 2 letters or more and the answers split into Tasks,
Descriptions and Projects, with chips to show one group at a time.
A task found through a comment or an attached file says in a comment or
in a file under its name. Every list ends with Search completed tasks.
When what you typed is a filter, such as is:today, the first row reads
Filter by and opens the list filtered by it.
Look back at what you finished
Section titled “Look back at what you finished”Completed lists every task you finished, newest first, under Today,
Yesterday and then the date. Each row shows the time it was done. Show older
loads the next 50, and the search box at the top finds an old one by name.
Tap the ticked ring to reopen a task. The toast carries Undo. Inside a project,
See all completed at the foot of the completed fold opens the same view for that
project only.
Filter in plain words
Section titled “Filter in plain words”Type filter words into Search and press Filter by. The list opens filtered,
with the filter box above it so you can change the words:
p1top4for priority.today, tomorrow, overdue,no dateornext 7 daysfor dates.tag:labelfor a label,in:projectfor a project.|between two filters shows tasks matching either, as inp1 | today.!in front of a word leaves those tasks out, as inp1 !tag:call.- Anything else searches names, notes, comments and file names.
The ? beside the box lists every word the filter knows. Display sets the
common ones from menus instead. The filter rides in the page’s address, so a
copied link opens the same list.
To keep one, press Save this filter, name it, and pick a colour. Describe the filter writes the query for you from a sentence, such as calls due this week.
Nothing is saved until you press Save filter.
Labels
Section titled “Labels”Open Display, then Filters & Labels…. Tap a label to open its own page: every
task carrying it, with the label’s colour and count at the top. The ⋯ there
holds Rename label, Label colour and Delete label.
Renaming or deleting changes the label on your own tasks only, and the toast
carries Undo. A task someone else owns keeps the label, and the toast says how
many.
Productivity
Section titled “Productivity”The rings on the Tasks home, and Productivity in the rail, open your score:
Daily, Weekly and Score. Daily shows today’s points, your streak and your
longest one, with the last 7 days as bars. Weekly shows the last 4 weeks.
Tasks score 5 points, routine checks 3, and every 5 focus minutes 1. Edit goals
changes the daily and weekly targets.
Does Search look past my newest tasks?
Open tasks, yes, all of them. Finished ones live in Completed, which Search completed tasks opens with your words already in its box.
Why is my filter showing nothing?
A word the filter doesn’t know stops every match, and the banner over the list
names it. The ? beside the box lists the words it knows.
Can I share a filtered list?
Yes. Copy the page’s address, or use Copy link to view in the ⋯ beside
Display. Both carry the filter and how the list is drawn.
