Run a focus session

A focus session is a timer with a tree on it. Pick what you’re doing and for how long, and the seed grows while you work. Stay to the end and it’s fully grown; quit and it withers.

Finishing logs the session as an activity, pays coins by the minute, and can post it to your team’s Feed.

To run one:

  1. Open Record a session from the rail’s Quick group.
  2. Pick the kind of work under What are you doing?.
  3. Pick a length under For how long?.
  4. Type an intention in the box below, if you want one.
  5. Press Plant & start.

The lengths are 15m, 25m, 50m and 90m, and 25 minutes is picked to begin with. The … button takes a length of your own, from 1 to 180 minutes.

The kinds start with Calling session, Deep work, Meeting, Case prep and Learning, then 5 more below them. + Create your own… at the foot makes a kind with a name and an emoji. Only you see it, and it posts to the feed as a focus session.

If you’ve unlocked more than one tree, Choose your tree lets you plant a different one this time.

A session can be tied to one task, and finishing the session ticks the task off.

  • Right-click a task and pick Focus on this now.
  • On a wider screen, press the play button at the end of a task row.
  • On the timetable, open a block and press Focus on this now. The session takes the block’s length.

The page then shows Working on: and the task’s name.

The timer counts down around the tree, and the browser tab shows the time left. The screen stays awake while you focus, in browsers that allow it.

Pause stops the clock and Resume carries on. On a timer, End now appears after the first minute; it finishes early and keeps the minutes you’ve done.

Give up asks first. Confirming with Let it wither puts a withered tree in today’s forest and loses the minutes; Keep going takes you back.

Switch For how long? to Stopwatch for open-ended work. The clock counts up instead of down.

10 focused minutes grow the tree, and the stopwatch stops by itself at 2 hours. Once you’re past 10 minutes, Give up turns into Finish & grow.

When the timer ends, a chime plays and the save screen opens.

  1. Give it a title, or leave it for the app to name.
  2. Tap how it felt: Grind, Solid, Strong or On fire.
  3. Type what you got done.
  4. Add private notes only you can see.
  5. Press Log it & share to the feed.

Turn off Share to team feed first to keep the session to yourself. The switch then reads Log privately (only you), and the button reads Log it privately.

Take a 5-min break first runs a 5-minute break timer and brings you back to the same screen. Skip break ends it early.

A finished session pays 5 to 30 coins, rounding the minutes to the nearest 5, so a 25-minute session pays 25. A session tied to a task marks that task done, unless you turned off the switch for it on the save screen.

A session of 15 minutes or more can drop a gift into your bag. A shared session then offers a card to post as a story, and closing it takes you to Feed.

Today’s jot gets a line too, with the minutes and the title in it.

Back on the setup screen, a strip shows the trees you’ve grown today, withered ones in grey. Beside them are your minutes today, this week and all-time.

I ended early. Do the minutes still count?

Yes, if you pressed End now. The tree grows as far as you got, and the minutes are logged. Only Give up loses them.

Does a private session count anywhere?

Yes. It still counts in your own stats and pays the coins. It just never reaches the feed.

Can I leave the page while the timer runs?

The timer lives on this page. Leaving through the back arrow mid-session asks whether you want to give up.

Why is there no End now button?

On a timer it appears after the first full minute, and until then Give up is the only way out. The stopwatch never shows it: Finish & grow takes its place once you pass 10 minutes.
