Install ActivityTracker on your phone

ActivityTracker runs in the browser, and it installs from the browser too. There’s no app store download. Once it’s on your home screen it opens full screen from its own icon, the way an app does.

On an iPhone it matters more than looks. Push notifications only work on an iPhone once the app is installed.

Open My preferences in the left rail, then Notifications. The Install the app row is the first thing in the On this device card, above the push switch.

What the row offers depends on your browser:

  • Where the browser can install apps itself, such as Chrome on Android, the row carries an Install button.
  • On an iPhone the row gives the Safari route, Share then Add to Home Screen.

Open the info mark beside Install the app for what installing gets you on that device.

The row isn’t drawn at all when you’re already running the installed app, or when your browser offers no install route.

To install:

  1. Open ActivityTracker in Chrome and sign in.
  2. Open My preferences, then Notifications.
  3. Press Install on the Install the app row.
  4. Confirm in the browser’s own install prompt.

The icon lands on your home screen. If you dismiss the prompt, the Install button leaves with it and comes back when the browser offers to install again.

To install:

  1. Open ActivityTracker in Safari and sign in.
  2. Tap the Share button in Safari’s toolbar.
  3. Tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Open ActivityTracker from the new icon.

Step 4 counts. Opening from the icon is what the app recognises as installed.

On an iPhone, the Push notifications row on the Notifications page reads Add to Home Screen to enable on iPhone until you’ve installed. Open the installed app, go to Notifications, and the switch is there.

Push is set per device. Turning it on in the installed app covers that phone and nothing else.

Do I have to install it?

No. Everything works in the browser. On an iPhone you just won’t get push notifications.

I can’t see the Install the app row. Why?

Either you’re already in the installed app, or your browser has no install route the app can use. On Android, open the site in Chrome and check again.

Does installing sign me out or lose my data?

No. Your data lives with your account, so it’s all there in the installed app once you’re signed in.
