How it's worked out
MDRT's Singapore table puts COT at three times the MDRT figure, under every method. For 2027 membership, on business paid to you in 2026:
| Method | MDRT | COT |
|---|---|---|
| Commission | S$75,800 | S$227,400 |
| Premium | S$227,400 | S$682,200 |
| Income | S$131,300 | S$393,900 |
The risk-protection rule doesn't triple. You still need S$37,900 of commission from risk-protection products before anything else counts, the same as for MDRT. Under the income method, the US$46,000 minimums for new business and for risk protection stay the same too.
Worked example: say you were paid S$150,000 of eligible commission in 2026. That's MDRT, and S$77,400 short of COT. At S$1,500 of first-year commission a case, a made-up figure, that's 52 more cases. A whole COT year at that case size is 152 cases, a bit over 3 a week across 48 working weeks.
COT dues are US$650: MDRT's US$600 plus US$50.
Where it shows up in your week
COT is usually a case-size problem as much as a count problem. The MDRT calculator shows the gap to COT from what you've been paid so far and what each week still needs.
