Win rate calculator: your real win rate, with the deals that went quiet counted
Count the deals that finished last quarter. The calculator shows the rate, the sum behind it and the gap the quiet ones make.
Your won deals, your lost ones and the ones that went quiet
It takes a minute, and the answer changes as you type.
- 01Pick a period, such as last quarter, and count the deals that finished in it.
- 02Put in what you won, what you lost and what went quiet with no decision.
- 03Add the deals still open, their values and next quarter's goal to see the other figures.
How the sum works
The formula sits under the result, filled in with your numbers.
Win rate = deals won divided by deals won, lost and gone quiet, times 100.
15 won, 35 lost and 10 that went quiet: 15 of 60 is 25%. That's the rate, with no decision counted as a loss.
Leave the 10 quiet ones out and it's 15 of 50, so 30%. It reads better, but you spent the time on those 10 either way.
By value, S$75,000 won against S$300,000 lost is 20%, lower than 25% because the big deals were the ones that got away.
See how many opportunities your number needs
Put in the deals you want to win next quarter, and the calculator works back from your rate.
- At 25%, 20 wins take 80 opportunities that reach a result
- At 30%, the same 20 deals take 67 opportunities
- Deals still open when the quarter ends don't count, so the pipeline needs more than that
Check it before next quarter's pipeline gets built
Run it when the quarter closes, and again when a number looks too good.
- 01At the end of each quarter, on the deals that finished
- 02Before you set next quarter's pipeline target
- 03When a report shows a win rate you can't reproduce
- 04After a run of deals goes quiet
Count wins and losses from your pipeline
Palby CRM, which we make, keeps every deal in a stage, so the count is already there.
- Your own stages on a board or a grid, with won and lost at the end
- A dashboard of this month's quotes, wins and lost reasons, with the customers behind each number
- Cards that sit too long in one stage get flagged on the board
- Customers with no next step, in a ready-made view
Questions
Deals won divided by deals won plus deals lost, times 100. Count only the deals that finished in the period, and leave out the ones still open. Our glossary's win rate entry has a worked example.
Yes. You spent the time on them either way, and leaving them out makes the rate look better than it is. The calculator shows both, so you can see the gap.
Often, yes. Some teams use close rate for deals won out of every enquiry that came in, which comes out much lower, so check what's being divided by.
It depends on your market, your deal size and how strictly you qualify. Compare your own rate over time, counted the same way each quarter.
Big and small deals rarely close at the same rate. If the big ones are the ones you lose, the rate by value is lower, and that's the one to plan revenue with.
Divide the deals you want by your win rate. At 25%, 20 deals take 80 opportunities that reach a result. The calculator rounds up.
It's one of the four numbers in sales velocity, with opportunities, deal size and cycle length. The sales velocity calculator shows what each is worth a day.
