Where Todoist is strong

Todoist says 50+ million people use it, and it shows. Smart Quick Add reads a date as you type, the Beginner plan costs nothing, and there's an app for Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, Android and watches. Pro adds a calendar layout, task duration and deadlines, and the Business plan gives a team a shared workspace. If you want a native app everywhere, or you plan with other people, it's the safer pick.

The three differences that matter

Your calendar sits on the same day as the list

Connect Google Calendar and your events show beside your tasks on a timetable. Drag a task onto an hour, and the time you plan can go back onto Google as busy. In Todoist the calendar layout is a Pro feature.

Habits, routines and a timer come with it

Type a habit once and tick it off as you go, with a streak and the last 30 days at a glance. Routines come back on the days you pick, and you get a Telegram message if one slips. The focus timer runs 25 minutes, and Done ticks the task off.

Notes live beside the tasks

Keep the packing list, the questions for the landlord and the gift ideas in folders right next to your tasks. Record a voice note, and turn a checklist into tasks when it is time.

Switching in three steps

  1. Book a 30-minute walkthrough and see the planner on your own week.
  2. Type this week's tasks the way you'd say them. There's no import, so the rest can wait in Todoist for now.
  3. Connect Google Calendar and drag tomorrow's first task onto an hour.

Questions

Plan tomorrow in one app, not three.
