TickTick alternative

TickTick alternative: tasks, habits and the timer, with your Google Calendar on the same day

TickTick and Palby Planner both do tasks, habits and a focus timer. The difference is the day: Palby Planner puts your Google Calendar and your tasks on one timetable, and takes a task by Telegram message.

Where TickTick is strong

TickTick packs a lot into a US$0 plan: 9 lists, list and kanban views, dates typed in plain words and reminders. It has a habit tracker, a Pomodoro timer, the Eisenhower matrix and five calendar views, on phone, computer, tablet and watch. Premium is US$49.99 a year. If you want all that at a known price, it is hard to beat.

The three differences that matter

One timetable for the calendar and the list

Your Google Calendar events and your tasks sit on the same hours. Tap a task onto an hour, stretch it in 15-minute steps, and the time can go back onto Google as busy, so nobody books over it.

Send it a task

Type "buy milk tomorrow 9am" in Telegram and it's on tomorrow's list. Say it as a voice message, or send "note: gate code 4821" and it lands in your notes.

Routines that check in

A routine comes back on the days you pick. If it isn't done by its time, you get a Telegram message, and one tap marks it done.

Switching in three steps

  1. Book a 30-minute walkthrough and see the planner on your own week.
  2. Add this week's tasks and habits. There's no import from TickTick yet.
  3. Connect Google Calendar and plan tomorrow on the timetable.
