Breathing exercise timer: follow the circle, skip the counting
Pick a pattern and press start. The circle counts so you don't have to.
The six patterns
| Pattern | Breathe in | Hold | Breathe out | Hold |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Long breath out | 4 | 0 | 6 | 0 |
| Box | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 |
| Easy box | 4 | 2 | 4 | 2 |
| Even | 5.5 | 0 | 5.5 | 0 |
| Steady | 4 | 2 | 4 | 0 |
| 4-7-8 | 4 | 7 | 8 | 0 |
All the numbers are seconds.
How to do it
Sit or lie however you like. Breathe in through your nose if you can, and out through your nose or mouth. Follow the circle: it grows as you breathe in, stays still as you hold, and shrinks as you breathe out.
If you're new to this, start with Long breath out. It has no holds. If you get dizzy or short of breath, stop and breathe normally.

Common questions
Which pattern should I pick?
Whichever feels easiest to follow. If a hold feels like too much, try one without holds.
How long should I do it for?
One minute is fine. Stop whenever you like.
What is box breathing?
It's breathing in, holding, breathing out and holding again, all for the same count. Here each side of the box is four seconds.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in this tab, and nothing you do here is saved or sent anywhere.
