ActivityTracker vs Google Sheets

ActivityTracker vs Google Sheets: why the team's sales sheet is always a week behind

A shared sheet is free and the whole team can edit it, as long as everyone does. Here's where Sheets still wins, and where a team is better off logging as they go.

The short version

Keep Google Sheets for models, commission sums and anything the team builds together. Use ActivityTracker for the week's calls and meetings, which each rep logs on their phone as they happen instead of filling in a row on Friday.

Who should stay with which

Stay with Google Sheets if

  • you sell alone and fill in your own sheet every day
  • you need a custom model or dashboard nobody sells
  • your team already fills in its rows on time

Pick ActivityTracker if

  • the shared sheet is always a few days behind
  • Friday goes on chasing people for their numbers
  • you want the week's rankings without keeping a formula working

Where Google Sheets is strong

Google Sheets is free for anyone with a Google Account. Your whole team can edit the same spreadsheet at once, sharing settings decide who can edit, comment or only view, and version history takes you back to an earlier copy. It works on phones, tablets and offline, it can email you when a new row is added, and Gemini in Sheets can help write the formulas. For a commission model or a dashboard you build yourself, keep using it.

The three differences that matter

Each rep logs on their phone, not in a shared row

A shared sheet is only current once every rep has filled in their row. In ActivityTracker a rep taps a call as they hang up, and the week adds up rep by rep while it's happening.

An empty row becomes a name

In a sheet, a rep who stopped calling looks the same as one who hasn't filled in yet. Anyone with nothing logged for seven days lands on your Gone quiet list, longest first, so a slow week gets a call before Friday.

The rankings post themselves

On the day and time you pick, the week's rankings go to your team's WhatsApp or Telegram group. Nobody keeps a formula working, and the board starts again every Monday.

Switching in three steps

  1. Upload the client sheet you keep now, and one tap undoes it if anything looks wrong.
  2. Set your activities and what each is worth, like a call for 1 point and a meeting for 3.
  3. Invite the team and let them log from their phones.
