6 topics in 30 minutes

Weekly 1:1: [rep] and [manager]

Date: ______ Week: ______ 30 minutes

Before we meet (the rep fills this in, about 5 minutes)

This week against target

Calls: __ of __

Meetings: __ of __

Proposals sent: __ of __

Deals closed: __ of __

Last week's promise: ____________ Done / Partly / Not done

One win this week: ____________

The deal that's stuck, and what's stopping it: ____________

What I need from you: ____________

In the meeting (30 minutes)

1. Last week's promise (3 min). Did it happen? If not, what got in the way?

2. The numbers (5 min). Which number is short? Is it early in the week's work (calls, meetings) or late (proposals, deals)? What does the rest of the month need?

3. The stuck deal (10 min). What's the next step, who says yes, and by when? What would you do if it were your only deal?

4. One skill (7 min). Replay one call or meeting from this week. What's one thing to try on the next one?

5. Anything else (3 min). What's getting in the way that isn't a deal? How are you doing?

6. Next week's promise (2 min). One thing, with a number and a day. The rep writes it, in their own words.

After (the manager, about 2 minutes)

Send the rep the notes and the promise the same day.

Put next week's 1:1 in both calendars.

Write down anything you promised them, and do it before the next one.

A 30-minute agenda, minute by minute

The default agenda, the same one as our 1 on 1 meeting template.

  • 3 minutes on last week's promise, and whether it happened.

  • 5 on the numbers: which one is short, and whether it's early in the week's work or late.

  • 10 on the stuck deal: the next step, who says yes, and by when.

  • 7 on one skill from a call this week, 3 on anything else, and 2 on next week's promise.

Your rep, your minutes and what to cover

  1. 01Put in your rep's name and how long you have.
  2. 02Pick what to cover. The minutes share out again as you add or drop a topic.
  3. 03Copy it into your notes, print it, or send the rep the link to fill in first.

Short on time? Each topic keeps its share of the minutes

Every topic keeps its share of the time, rounded to whole minutes that add up.

  • At 15 minutes the six topics get 2, 3, 5, 3, 1 and 1.
  • At 45 minutes, the same six get 5, 8, 15, 10, 4 and 3.
  • Drop the stuck deal from a 30-minute 1:1, and its 10 minutes go to the other five topics.

Build it on Friday for Monday's 1:1s

Send the link on Friday, and the rep fills in their side before you meet.

  • 01On Friday, for next week's 1:1s
  • 02When a rep's 1:1s keep turning into status updates
  • 03When you've only got 15 minutes this week
  • 04When a new rep joins and needs a longer one

See each rep's week before the 1:1 starts

The generator is free. ActivityTracker, the app we make, is paid, and it fills in the rep's week for you.

  • Each rep's week fills in from what they logged, against their targets, when they file their Friday check-in
  • A rep files their check-in on Friday, and you get an email
  • Your notes from each 1:1 stay in one file per rep, and the rep can read it
  • Actions from your notes go into the rep's task list once you confirm them
